How eero’s software makes all the difference.

TrueMesh, TrueChannel, and TrueRoam combine to deliver wifi the way it should be.

In 1973, science fiction writer and futurist Arthur C. Clarke famously wrote that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

For eero, creating this magic for customers is more than speeds and feeds. Sure, they’re a sign of maximum capabilities under ideal conditions, but if there’s one thing eero knows about wifi, it’s that conditions are almost never ideal.

You have to account for a myriad of environmental factors and variables that are unique to every home and business location. What is the building made of, and how many stories? Is it an apartment complex or a single-family home? Is it close to an airport? What devices are on the network?

Then there’s the trickiest consideration—people. People are active, and no person or family lives their connected lives in the same way.

So, what’s the magic formula? A big part of it is software innovation. That’s why eero developed TrueRoam and TrueChannel, which join TrueMesh to proactively keep you connected to the fastest, most reliable wifi connection.

It all starts with TrueMesh.

At the core of every eero product is TrueMesh, our patented mesh networking technology. Launched in 2016 along with the first eero routers (many of which are still in use today), TrueMesh intelligently routes wifi traffic to proactively fix issues in the background, helping ensure our customers have a fast, reliable internet experience.

In the years since eero introduced its mesh wifi systems to the world, standard technologies like Wifi Certified EasyMesh have become pretty good at connecting products and creating a mesh network. But pretty good has never really worked for us. eero’s patented TrueMesh goes beyond industry standards. It automatically chooses the fastest path for network traffic based on a variety of factors like a network’s layout, interference from nearby networks, and the connected devices being used.

Wherever I may roam.

TrueRoam’s benefit is simple—it connects you to the best available eero as you move between floors, rooms, and buildings. eero’s proprietary software dynamically adjusts which wifi access point your device is connected to wherever you go, without losing connection.

Let’s say you’re working in a basement office setup, then bringing your laptop upstairs to the kitchen to make more coffee or grab a snack. Without TrueRoam, the laptop could stubbornly stay connected to the basement router, even though the router in the kitchen is closer and has a stronger connection. TrueRoam solves this by seamlessly switching over to the closest router without you even noticing.

The important part is that you don’t have to configure it or even turn it on. It is designed to always run in the background, measuring the connection quality of each device and performing roaming assistance when necessary. You don’t see it, but you definitely feel it with whole-home wifi.

Get on the right wavelength.

TrueChannel is a collection of software features that learn and navigate the available channels in your area to ensure optimum performance. Put simply, it automatically chooses the channel that delivers the best connection. Think of it like traffic navigation for your wifi that instantly finds the least congested route to your destination and adjusts accordingly.

For example, someone living in a multistory apartment building might be paying for 1 Gbps internet speed, but only getting 200-300 Mbps due to channel congestion and noise. A major benefit of TrueChannel is that it will help provide speed and reliability in dense deployments like an apartment building or a busy coffeehouse. On eero Max 7 and eero Outdoor 7, TrueChannel also avoids disruptions by dynamically expanding or shrinking channel widths in response to radar strikes and weather events—especially relevant for people who live near air or sea ports.

TrueChannel, like TrueMesh and TrueRoam, is designed to work in the background to get you the best performing connection without having to opt in or configure anything. It all just works.

Getting better, all the time.

Today, billions of people rely on fast, reliable wifi for work, entertainment, education, and running important infrastructure like security systems, HVAC, and even their cars. The eero team remains committed to relentless innovation to ensure connectivity that’s rock solid and easy to use. They put in the hard work, so our customers don’t have to give wifi a second thought.

Part of what makes eero, eero is the continuous drive to improve wifi for all our customers, not just new ones. There are millions of eero devices in use globally, and TrueRoam and TrueChannel are now available with all of them* at no extra cost, and with no configuration needed.

“Every solution we develop is intentionally crafted with a clear purpose, and we maintain an unwavering commitment to continuously enhance the user experience,” said Mark Sieglock, EVP of Software and Services. “From eeros released in our early years to today’s cutting-edge devices, we relentlessly deliver the best wifi experience possible to every eero customer.”

That’s what it’s all about for eero—delivering cutting-edge hardware paired with innovative new software features for wifi that just works. Check out eero Outdoor 7 and the rest of the eero family.
